SimplePractice now gives behavioral health professionals the option to request license verification to be added to their profile on the Monarch Directory. License verification is encouraged, as it helps build trust with prospective clients by showing your license is confirmed as active and in good standing with your state’s licensing board. Profiles with verified license badges will also rank higher in Monarch search results. 

In this guide, we’ll cover:

• Submitting a verification request
• License types that are supported for verification

Note: Adding a license verification badge to your Monarch profile isn’t the same as becoming legally licensed and is completely optional. You aren’t required to submit a license verification to list on the Monarch Directory.

Submitting a verification request

To submit a verification request in your SimplePractice account: 

• Navigate to Settings > Public Information
• Select the License Verification tab

• You'll see your licenses listed with an option to Verify License
• Click Verify License

• Enter your personal information

Tip: Entering your date of birth can help speed up the verification process. 

• Confirm your personal and license information
• Click Submit request
• You'll receive a prompt confirming your request has been submitted

License verification can take 1 to 5 business days. During this time, your request will show as Pending verification. 

Note: If you have multiple license types, you can only submit one verification request at a time. 

You'll be able to submit additional verification requests once the pending request is approved or denied. If successfully verified, a Verified badge will display next to the license type. 

A license verification badge will also appear on your Monarch profile. 

Important: A clinician must have an active Monarch profile and availability for online appointment requests enabled in order for the License Verification tab to appear in their account. To learn more, see Enabling online appointment requests.

License types that are supported for verification

Monarch supports behavioral health therapists, including social workers, marriage and family therapists, mental health counselors, psychologists, and substance use disorder counselors.

However, only certain license types can be verified at this time. In the table below, you'll find the license types we currently can and cannot verify. 

Tip: If you're using a Mac, press Command+F to quickly search the table for your license type. If you're using a Windows computer, press Control+F.
