Feature request - virtual waiting room?

I just had my first tele-health session. When I signed onto my session my couple was already on! It threw me off, too. I was trying to log on early to get prepared.  I was fumbling to get things set up for the session.  I don't think I made a good impression.  I would love the waiting room function added.  It feels more professional when I can manage my first appearance with a client.

I would love to have a virtual waiting room.  This would be especially helpful when clients are late.  I can work on something else while waiting for them without them popping in and having to be immediately "on" once they choose to show up.  I'd like to be able to control when the session starts.  Thank you.

I hopped onto my session (newbie here) and my client was already on! It threw me off. This feature would definitely help! I've gotten so used to other virtual programs that already offer this feature.

I agree with all of the posts. A virtual waiting room would really be ideal!

I love this idea so much and am eager for its inclusion on this platform. Thank you for this. I am also interested group video options with moderator being able to mute a member or turn off a video, etc.

Danita, the same thing happened to me! I was trying to log on early and my client beat me to it. I also fumbled around and got flustered a bit. I hope I didn’t leave a bad impression but certainly felt a bit flustered.

Yes, this is a deal breaker for me. I have an active "Zoom" life as a professor and have grown accustomed to a waiting room. It is important to log on early to ensure technology is functional on my end before welcoming a patient. I am giving Simple Practice a trial run so we shall see if this is something offered soon.

Sad to join the chorus, but this is becoming a dealbreaker for me as well.

When it's in person, people are used to having to wait sometimes 3-5 minutes, or even sometimes a bit longer, but at least they know that doctor is in and will see them. Virtual sessions though, the client is already frustrated/confused/upset after 3 minutes because they don't even know you're there...they start thinking maybe they got the wrong time etc...

The ability to have them marked as "checked in" somewhere once they join a session, and then for the provider to be able to click a button that lets the client know "I know you're here, so am I, I'll be with you shortly" seems so basic and simple and necessary it's really confusing why they don't have it.

I hate to say this because I've been using SimplePractice for almost 6 years...but if another platform would have this feature I would switch immediately.

Sadly, the lack of virtual waiting room is becoming a dealbreaker for me as well. I need one. It's imperative. I like a lot of other things Simple Practice offers, but this is a rudimentary and general concept that I can't keep overlooking. Also, not being able to start my sessions early is a headache. The therapist and client should not be beholden to an exact start time. 13 minutes early? I should totally be able to start then should I choose.

I completely agree!  Both Doxy and Zoom have this feature

I 100% agree and am wondering where SP is with the development of this feature.  It can be jarring when waiting for a client to arrive when you're getting other work done and they pop on without you being able to be prepared.

Agreed - I would greatly appreciate this feature.

I emailed a question about adding a waiting room feature and will report back when I receive a reply. I also found this link (below) that started a couple of years ago with 11 pages of comments regarding convenience, professionalism, and safety (i.e., virtual bombing). The comments are not dated, so I can only assume some are recent.

I couldn't agree more.  Sometimes I have a parent-teen session where they both join separately; it'd be nice to be able to have one "hang" in the waiting room as I prep or check-in with my primary client.

I can not believe this has not been added yet. I assumed this was standard and was very surprised it was not available. Apparantly this issue is not new and Simple Practice has been made aware. What do subscribers need to do to be heard?

This is becoming a huge issue for me. Not having a virtual waiting room may be what keeps me from continuing a subscription.

Please add this! It is a must to be able to control when the session starts.

Following up to ask if the the platform is considering adding the waiting room? This feature is an absolute necessity for any telehealth provider!

Thank you for this link. I went ahead and “voted” for this feature. I also commented on that post.

Excellent.  Yes, b/c a wait room is needed and the ability to create group links and have group sessions.  Thank you!
