Logging out after time lapse

Often times, if I do not log out of simple practice and go back to the open tab, I can see the calendar format however my appointments are missing.  It requires me entering my user name and password which then logs me OUT and then I have to enter the information a second time to actual log IN.  It is frustrating and time consuming especially with having to use an email as a user name as some email addresses are very long.  

Is there something to eliminate the double logging on?

  I just refresh the page and it brings me to the log in page. You can save your email log in if typing it is problematic. But most EHRs do this because it's a security issue.
