Turn off automatic payment creation?

Is there any way to turn off automatic payment creation in SP?  I have many, many payments that SP created that I cant verify that I actually got paid for them.  There is no way to reconcile actual payment with the automated entries that are getting created in SP.  This makes all of the financial reporting in SP worthless because none of the numbers match the balances in my account.
