    Hi, Locke!

I'd be happy to help with your question.

Currently, there is not a mass email/mass message feature available in SimplePractice. We've considered implementing a feature like this in the past; however, our priority is to ensure that your client's PHI is safe and secure. Introducing a mass messaging feature increases the odds of accidentally sending PHI to clients, and that's not what we want!

The best way to send your clients a mass email would be to export their contact information using My Account > Settings > Data Export, then using the resulting export to generate a mass message or mail merge.

Let me know if you have any additional questions about this, or anything else SimplePractice! I'm here to help.

    This would be valuable!

Gillian, I just tried that and it exported all clients without giving me an option for current clients. Simple Practice needs to come up with a better way to get email addresses of current clients. I may have done something wrong, but the contacts also weren't in one usable list.

A mass messaging would be valuable. But I do understand the concern and the potential for mistakes. Maybe there could be another password or confirmation required before sending a mass message?

Gillian-  Maybe there would be a way for SP to autopopulate an out of office message, to ensure that PHI was not shared?   I agree that this would be very valuable at times.

Sarah, that's a great idea for an enhancement to our platform! Be sure to post your "Away Message"/"Out Of Office Message" idea to the Ideas and Suggestions board in this forum so others can vote for it!

I love the idea of having a "check" before a message is sent, to be sure everything is correct. I would like to be able to send messages to multiple people for the primary reason that I could then use Secure Messaging with my staff. Currently I would have to send the same message to everyone individually and then people would not be able to see each others' responses.

I would really like to be able to create a list of emails.  I would also like to be able to have a box where clients can opt to emails and newsletters.

I agree with Deborah! I’d love to also love be able to add business contacts with names, contact information, etc.

Being able to keep everything in one place is incredibly helpful!

    Have they done it yet?
An away message makes so much sense!!!

Is there a way to export contacts to a excel work book or csv file?

Jessica, I'd be happy to help. You can export your clients information as VCF contact cards, which can then easily be used to create a mail merge. To do this, visit My Account > Settings > Data Export. Currently, an excel or CSV export is not available.

I simply need to be able to export my client database into an excel or csv file.  Why haven't you made this available as yet?  I need to be able to choose what I need to do with my client data.  If they have signed permission for me to email them, then I should be able to select those clients with that permission checked and download them to an excel or csv file.  Please advise as to when this is going to become possible.

    Best regards.

Kimberley, we are actively listening to your feedback in this thread. While an excel or CSV export isn't yet available, you can convert VCF files into Excel/CSV files to accomplish what you're looking to do here.

Is there any way that you could set up this function through secure messaging- it would be great to send out the same message to all, like to update a phone number, without having to copy the message 50 times....generating a new message to each client.  I would love this feature.

Hi Jen - A similar feature request was proposed on our Ideas and Suggestions Board. This is a Planned Initiative, please continue to comment on and upvote this post so that we can take your perspective into consideration as we work on this feature enhancement: https://simplepractice.uservoice.com/forums/918553-simplepractice-feedback/suggestions/37845466-mass-sending-of-emails-or-portal-documents-that-ar . Thanks for the feedback!

Just here to promote interest! Other HIPAA covered entities have a compliant way to do it (One Medical is a great example). This would be so incredibly helpful. I have a message that I need to send to a specific group of clients, but I'm actively not doing it because it will be too time consuming to send individual messages.

Agree 1000%!!! Lots of EMRs do offer this feature and it's VERY needed during this pandemic to get mass/group massaging out to clients about clinic procedures, changes in mask mandates, updates about fee changes, etc.,etc.,etc..... Thank you!!

Please add this feature. We are killing ourselves going through each individual client to get everyone's email address when there is an update

How do we "up-vote" this item because our company has been asking for it for over 4 years. With the pandemic and more services being done remotely, this is  increasingly an essential feature for operating a practice and a true headache not to have this feature!!!! I might ask you, Simple Practice....how would it be for you as a company if you were unable to message all of us as your customers at once to get the word out about your recent fee increases??!!!! How would you like to export and download every administrators email by hand every time and keep that list updated. :( a total nightmare and extremely difficult to run a business successfully in 2022 this way.

Agreed Carly. I'm actually starting to look at other EMRs now. There's other good ones out there.

After 7 years with SimplePractice I have decided to bring my company to a new EHR that allows for this feature and many many more that we have been asking for over the years. I love SimplePractice on the base level but to operate a group my size it’s a headache I just don’t need any longer

I, too, am planning to leave Simple Practice; they are not responsive to our needs and requests for improvements to their platform.  Plus, their new fee structure is disgusting.  I'm currently looking into TherapyNotes or myclientsplus.com to compare pros and cons.

Some of these messages are 2 years old and there STILL is not an option to set an away message.

Still would really appreciate this option.

Just checking on the option of sending a mass email to all of my clients. This feature would be extremely helpful!

Are there any plans to implement this?

I would also really like to have this option.
