Add COCHA as Payer. July 1 Colorado Medicaid completely changes
Answered

Medicaid in Colorado is changing payers July 1.  This is a huge headache and we very much need automation for claims.

The new Payer for our County is CCHA/Anthem.  They have indicated their Payer ID is COCHA.

Currently (June 29) this Payer ID does not appear in SimplePractice.

This is an urgent matter.  Please let me know what you need to add this Payer ID.    email andrewnewkirkrose@yahoo.com

Hi Andrew! Thank you for alerting us to this possible transition. Sometimes our clearinghouse's current connection to the payer is affected, sometimes it is not. I'm clarifying with them which case this is and will keep you updated with any new developments.

Whether an transition is taking place or not, you can get the ball rolling by submitting the enrollment forms for payer ID COMCD. This is and will continue to be the correct payer ID whether or not any update needs to be made on our clearinghouse's end.

We'll keep you updated on this!

HI Gillian, I appreciate the reply.

I did all the things for the COMCD enrollment.

The reason I suspect this is not sufficient (that COMCD would pay for all of Colorado) is that Colorado has now been divided into 7 regions, each with a different payer (not actually, some Payers service more than 1 region).

Could you give me contact information about the clearinghouse so I can work on the Payer end to get connected?

Our payer is CCHA (Colorado Community Health Alliance) although they contracted with Anthem for the behavioral health side (another complication), and they "think" they're payer ID is COCHA...

    THANKS!

Hi Andrew! We're working on this on our end, so there's no action needed from you right now. I'll be sure to keep you updated on the status of this payer connection. :)

    Hi Gillian and Andrew,

Andrew, thanks fro raising this question.

Gillian, Andrew is correct that COMCD ID is not sufficient and that the payer ID is CCHA. I cannot stress enough how important this is, as this payer will essentially be responsible for 1/7 of all behavioral health Medicaid claims in Colorado. Do you have a sense of when this payer ID will be available?

Thanks Whitney.  I tried to submit a claim manually through Availity and there are about a dozen new fields I never had to enter before.  Manual claim submission is now a nightmare.

Now I've heard two different Payer IDs by the way, "COCHA" and "CCHA" ... trouble.

    Andrew,
It is definitely COCHA. I checked in the PowerPoint they sent from the townhall.

    Hi Whitney and Andrew,

Our clearinghouse is currently able to support electronic claim submission to 4 of the 5 new RAEs for Colorado Medicaid. Please see below listed payer name and associated payer IDs.

Our clearinghouse is working to create a connection to Colorado Community Health Alliance. Please be patient, as this process can take quite some time depending on the payer's responsiveness. We recommend filing paper claims to this payer while our clearinghouse works to establish a connection.

    Rocky Mountain - RMHMO
Northeast Health Partners - owned and operated by Beacon Health Options. We support this payer with payer ID 00813
    Colorado Access - COACC
    Health Colorado - COMCD
Colorado Community Health Alliance - not currently supported

You'll want to complete the separate enrollment process for your region.

Hi Whitney,  put them all on blast.  This is ridiculous.  I'm going to ask MHP (Mental Health Partners Boulder) how they are dealing with this today.

I warned them this was going to SNAFU about 8 weeks ago.  Nobody listened.

Hello, I just contacted CCHA as well and they confirm it is COCHA. They also said we can link SimplePractice to Availity? Help! This is confusing and I want to get paid. Lol.

Ok, it looks like SimplePractice must reach out to Availity. They partner with many other mental health programs, including TheraNest. Please help us SimplePractice!!!

Hi Brooke, Whitney, and Andrew - the connection to file claims electronically with payer ID COCHA is now available. Thanks for your patience as we established a new connection with this payer!
