SimplePractice for Physical Therapy OP practice
Answered

I have started using SimplePractice in my small PT outpatient practice. I'm working on getting the platform to do what I need it to do, which takes some creativity to get to the right workaround for some limitations. It would be nice to hear from other Physical Therapists working through the same issues. Are there any PTs out there willing to share experiences?

It is hard to send plan of cares to physicians to sign. Am needing to print the note, then scan into a client portal for the docs. Otherwise taking file an sending on a separate email program that encrypts. Is this how you do this as well?

Also, when printing out an Intial evaluation to send to a physician, the title always reads "Progress" I am unable to have the title read Initial evaluation. It is kind of confusing to the MD office staff although they seem to sign anyway. Do you know how to change the heading as it is only "Intake" or "Progress".

thank you so much for reaching out.

Yes, that is a bummer. I have the same issues.

I have accepted the Progress Note title - doesn’t seem to bother the MDs.

    My workflow for Initial Evals:
    - Enter all info into custom Initial Eval form template I created
    - Copy last field (Assessment and POC)
    - Save the note
    - Open a fax cover page template that contains standard text to doc: “Dear Dr. ***, Thank you for referring *** for Physical Therapy. Below please find the findings of the Initial Evaluation and my Plan of Care. Please return this signed and dated page back to me at your earliest convenience.”
    - Enter doc and pt name and paste copied content at bottom.
    - Copy the whole lot and paste in the cover page section of a HIPAA compliant online fax service.

Not ideal but it kind of works.
