EHR and psychological testing
Ok! So this is not about SimplePractice...but it is about this learning curve to a total EHR!
Who here does psychological testing, and how are you doing in going online and/or EHR with your testing process and protocols? This whole group practice paper files to solo practice running the whole shebang myself and electronically is pretty much fun, but the next chapter in my learning curve is this!!!!

Hi Cathleen - I don't even know if you will get a notification about this, but I just started doing psych evals in my private practice. Mainly because I moved into a location with a big psychology practice that has an huge waiting list - so I can afford to invest in test kits etc. now that I know the referrals will be steady. The other practice does not use an EHR - they keep their records locally - so I am trying to integrate my use of SP into the work flow. Here's how I am doing it FOR NOW: The shared staff sends an invitation to the client portal, just like for therapy clients. They sign off on the informed consent and practice policies and fill out the intake questionnaire in the portal. The staff also makes a paper chart for each client and (again FOR NOW) I generate paper reports for each instrument administered, to use in writing my report. I write the report and insert a graphical signature at the bottom, and upload to SP. I print a copy and give to the client (or client's parents). Then I place the paper file in a staff member's box and they upload the paper test reports, and the original paper referral, into the client's chart. The contents of the paper files are shredded. Once feedback is given, I inactivate them.
What I want to move to is: keeping all testing reports electronic and uploading them to SP directly from my computer.

Hi Kimberly! We must be the only ones out there!!! So, I have done a few evals now in my "new job" as self-employed EHR-Happy. Went the q-interactive route so I don't have to buy the kits....and then buy the kits again in five years; also having folk do rating scales through on-line portals. So, I store in SP the protocals that are not elsewhere on line, but feel compelled to keep some paper file of data points and info from others, having the report in SP. Its a bit of a pain, but I am committed to EHR after many years (and files I must keep up to kids age 21!) from my last long-term position! Thanks for responding!

Hi Catherine!
I am no longer doing testing (in this virtual world...got my weekends back! No more back-log of reports to write!)
When I did my billing for state and county, I identified the County office paying as “insurance.”. While that worked fine for posting my payments, it did not work so well for the “clutter” left behind: I have a bunch of notices under my insurance tab of “claims” that I have not “filed!”. I dunno WHAT I am going to do with them!
What I thot I would do in the future (which, now, is a moot point!), is list the County payor as an “other contact” and then accept the payment as a “check,” like in private pay. I think that will work?????
