Hi Andrea, I'd be happy to help with this. Currently, clients cannot upload documents to SimplePractice to send to you - they'll need to transmit this information to you outside of SimplePractice.

    Thanks for confirming this, Gillian!
I hoped that I was just missing it somehow!

I will submit it as a suggestion!

It is very disappointing this feature does not yet exist.  I'm currently running into this same limitation with an existing client. Is there an anticipated date that this functionality will be coming out?

Hi Kate, while this functionality isn't currently on our Product Roadmap, we're actively collecting feedback on this idea in our Ideas forum here: https://simplepractice.uservoice.com/suggestions/36554326/

I have my clients fill out a "Patient Self Inventory" at the beginning of each session. Is there a way for me to scan/upload the document?... Is there a way to make it a form and have it automatically sent to clients to fill out a couple of hours before our session?... I would like to have it in the electronic chart so that I do not have to maintain two sets of  client charts (electronic charts and hardcopy charts).

    Hi Lolita,

Rather than scanning a hard copy of an intake document, you can create a custom intake form to send to the client ahead of time. That way, your client can complete this intake form electronically and submit it to you online without you needing to scan a hardcopy document.

To do this, follow the steps below:

    1. Log into your SimplePractice account.
    2. Click My Account > Settings > Notes and Forms.
    3. Click Create New Template, as shown below, to create a new intake from scratch.

If you'd like to create a custom form based on an existing forms, you can select the form that you want to use as the basis for a new custom form and click the copy icon located in the same row of the one you wish to copy. A new form will be created with the name “Copy of [NAME OF ORIGINAL FORM]” which you can then edit accordingly.

To send this form out to all new clients by default, you can navigate to My Account > Settings > Client Portal > Shared Documents and Files and click the Default button next to that custom intake form in the Intake Forms and Questionnaires section of the page.

I too would love to have clients uplaod previous evaluations for me to review prior to the first session.  My understanding that this is currently not a feature.. are there plans to incorporate this option in the near future? Thank you

Hi Sandra, we're always considering ways to make SimplePractice even better. At this time, allowing clients to upload documents to their SimplePractice Client Portal is not a feature, however, it's on our radar and we're actively listening to our customers to learn more about what they'd like to see in a potential feature like this one.

    Gillian:

This is a huge benefit to me. I need to collect previous evaluations for almost every patient. If the SimplePractice Client Portal won't allow this I need to pay for a Hippa-compliant file sharing service.  I think you should put this in the product roadmap ASAP.

Hi Lori, thanks for your suggestion - we're carefully evaluating this idea and working on prioritizing it for addition to our Product Roadmap soon. Please don't hesitate to reach out with additional feedback and suggestions.

I am curious to know why this feature for client's to upload their own documents is not already incorporated into the client portal? I am sure it has been thought of by simple practice developers before clinicians using the program have noticed this issue since there is a feature for Clinician's to upload documents into the client portal. This would be so helpful and would cut down on the time it takes for me to upload  documents on my own time after receiving them via hard copy from the client or another secure platform, which costs extra. Thanks!

Hi Puja, I'm happy to report that we recently released an update to the Client Portal that allows clients to upload documents to share with their provider. To enable this feature, head to My Account > Settings > Client Portal and toggle the option on. Then, under the client's Documents tab in the Client Portal, the client has the option to upload multiple types of files, including previous evaluations, photos of their insurance card, video and audio recordings, and more.

How do we get this added to client supports, especially for intake paperwork. It is often a necessity for clients to send verifications of some sort. It would make documenting a lot easier.

Document cannot be uploaded because it exceeds the maximum file size of 11Mb.  IS there an additional fee I need to pay to allow larger documents. Most evaluations will be larger than 11mb.

Hi Henrietta, can you clarify what you mean when you refer to adding this to client supports?

Shealeen, all of our subscription plans currently have a file size upload limit of 11mb. However, you can resize your file to be smaller outside of SimplePractice if you find that it's larger than 11mb.

Yes, Shealeen. I often need uploads from clients. The ability for them (the client) to be able to upload documents in their portal. Either during the online intake or by request of the clinician.

Hi Henrietta, I'd be happy to clarify. Clients can upload documents to the Client Portal at any time as long as you've enabled that setting under My Account > Settings > Client Portal. Clients can then head to the Documents tab of their Client Portal to upload text, video, audio, or photo files.

How do I upload insurance benefit information into Simple Practice. This would help me out tremendously, because I verify eligibility prior to new clients coming on board. I Like to refer to their benefit information.
