I need to print the credit card form where we take in their information and they sign stating we can keep it on file.  How do you print that form???  I live in an area of the country where I serve many people that are not computer savvy.  Many times they ask me to print the forms and allow them to fill them out in my office.  I prefer the forms to be filled out online, but that is not always possible and sometimes I spend hours looking for some specific form.  Please help.

Thank you for this. Is there a way to include this in the intake paperwork for the client to fill out? I see using stripe as an option but is there a form to save client credit card on file? Like the form link you included?

Hi Sheila, when you send the Credit Card Information Form to the client through the Portal using the Share button or when you accept the client's Appointment Request, SimplePractice will collect and securely save their credit card information in SimplePractice. You can also enter the card information to save it securely under Edit > Billing and Insurance > +Card.

If  you do not use Stripe is the card still saved securely in SP or do you have to use the Stripe format. I use Square and just want to store the information securely so that the card is protected. This is especially. helpful for teenagers.

Hi Sara, in order to securely save card information in SimplePractice, you'll need to be enrolled in Online Payments powered by Stripe.

I there a way to view the client credit card information after they have signed ?

Hi Neil, there is not a way to view a client's card information except the last 4 digits of their card number. This is an intentional feature, and designed to maintain SimplePractice's PCI compliance.

I already use Square for my client payments and have had almost no problems with anything for over 5 years.  I only use Simple Practice for Telehealth and to send out automatic reminders (I know I pay a lot for things I do not use!!!). My question is this:  With everyone being a Telehealth client now, I need to utilize the notes and forms section to send out my intake paperwork and receive signatures.  I really like the feature for the collection of credit card data but I’m wondering what good it will do me since I can’t figure out how to see it.  If I can see it, I can continue to use my Square account.  How can I make that happen?  Based on the complaints I’m reading about Stripe, I will not switch from Square.

    Thanks

I have a client who has trouble navigating this portal. I would like to manually add her credit card information for her, for the future. How do I do this ?

    Hi Neil and Janet,

I can certainly provide some insight here.

Neil - To manually add a client's credit card information, follow these instructions:

    1. Go to their client file, click Edit under their name

    2. Navigate to the Billing and Insurance tab, scroll down to the Credit & Debit Cards section

    3. Click the +Card button and add their Credit Card Information in the form fields that appear

You can find more detailed instructions here: How to add a card to a client's file

Here is a screenshot of this process in my test account:

Janet - In short, no, you won't be able to use a completed Credit Card Information Form to transcribe its contents onto Square, or any other credit card processor.

To ensure that we're HIPAA compliant and adhering to all set security measures, we're not at liberty to reveal your clients' entire credit card number. The Credit Card Information Form allows your client to enter their credit card so you can charge it through SimplePractice. Once they've filled this form out, you can go to their Billing and Insurance tab to see that it only displays the last four digits of the card number. You can also see the credit cards they have on file in their PAYMENTS box, to the right in their client file.

For more on this subject, check out our guide: How to request credit card information via the Client Portal.
