Hi Ginger! We're taking feedback on updates to reminders that our customers would like to see in our Ideas Forum here: https://simplepractice.uservoice.com/suggestions/36554275

Feel free to head there to share your idea.

UPDATE: This feature is now available in SimplePractice. Thank you for your suggestions!

Yes, please! This would negate the use of Mailchimp.

How do I cancel this reminder? It appears to be automatic, but I can't see how to disable this.

Hi all, we're glad you appreciate this new feature, which sends a Reminder a week prior to a client's birthday. Patricia, to cancel the Reminder, you can click X next to it under Reminders or simply ignore it.

so there is no way to eliminate the reminder from happening in the first place?

Why is a mandatory system reminder? should be optional.

Patricia, while there isn't currently a way to customize which Reminders you receive, you can simply dismiss Reminders that aren't helpful for you. We're continuing to make improvements to our Reminders functionality and look forward to making Reminders more customizable in the future.

Can we have customized notification settings??? Seems silly that I can decide to turn off daily email updates on my practice but I can't turn off birthday reminders. I don't need constant reminders of client birthdays and I would really appreciate being able to turn this off. As a therapist that believes in respecting the diversity of clients (i.e. not all clients celebrate birthdays, not all clients have positive memories around birthdays, not all clients want to hear from their therapist on their birthday, etc.) making this feature mandatory and not optional suggests that birthdays are universally celebrated or positive...just something to consider changing.

I would like to receive client birthday reminders, but can't see how to enable this feature. Can you help?

Hi Pamela, you don't have to enable this feature! The Reminder will be generated 7 days prior to any active clients' birthdays that you're the Primary Clinician for. You can find a list of all upcoming birthdays in your Reminders tab to the left of your account! The reminder will disappear the day after the client's birthday.

I haven't been receiving client birthday reminders and would like to.

    Help!

Hi Michelle, the Primary Clinician for a client should get birthday notifications 7 days before their client's birthday in their Reminders tab. If you're not getting birthday reminders for your clients please reach out to our Customer Success Team for further investigation by submitting an email Help Request.

Please consider more seriously removing the client birthday reminder as a default setting. PLEASE take into account that as psychotherapists, social workers, and psychiatrists we can be triggered by the reminders of our clients who have passed away in our system while under our care. Imagine being reminded in such an impersonal way as a computer of those who have died by overdose, accidents, and suicide completion. While we always carry these people in our hearts we do have to work with many other people on any given day that this reminder comes up.
