EIN on superbill
AnsweredIf I give my client a superbill for reimbursement why does the insurance company require my EIN. I do not want them reporting any income to IRS.

Hi Mark, EIN stands for Employer Identification Number, also called a Federal Tax Identification Number and is issued by the IRS. It could be described as a social security number for businesses and it identifies the healthcare provider who rendered the services. That's why it's required on Superbills.

Hi There, did you add your Tax ID to Settings > Billing & Services? If not, you may've added your Tax ID in the Taxonomy Code field under Settings > Basic Info > Clinical Info instead. The Taxonomy Code is different from your Tax ID, so if you did this, please delete your Tax ID from this field and add it to Settings > Billing & Services. Then delete the Superbill and regenerate it so it has your Tax ID included. Here's a screenshot of how this will appear:
