Hi I am starting a new practice and want to be able to take insurance- how do I go about doing that?

I'm having a similar situation with Blue Cross. They aren't being rejected, but there seems to be a problem with Simple Practice sending them the claims because they have no record of the claims I've made for the last two weeks. I'm wondering if this is related to Myrna and Kathy's problem. What did you find out?

    Hi Samuel,

Congratulations on your new practice. I would be happy to provide some clarity here. From what I understand you want become credentialed/paneled with BCBS, correct?

SimplePractice does not assist in the process of getting you paneled or credentialed with insurance panels. This is a process you have to complete directly with the payers.

If you're filling out your credentialing applications, fill them out as if you're not using SimplePractice and will be filing claims to that payer directly. The purpose of this is just to get you accepted into the payer's panel. Once you're paneled, we will help you get set up to be able to file claims electronically through our system.

Once you're paneled, you'll be able to start filing claims as an in-network provider. To learn our claim filing process, click this link: Getting started with electronic insurance filing.

I see this may be your first time filing claims. I would recommend registering for our live Insurance Billing class. You can ask any questions you like and get live responses. You can register here: Insurance Billing Class Registration.

Jessica, can you clarify which state you're in?

Idaho. I've been in contact and have been told there's no update on fixing the issue.

Hi Jessica, we've confirmed with our clearinghouse that BCBS in Idaho and Illinois are experiencing connection issues with our clearinghouse. We're working closely with them to resolve this.

    Update: This has been resolved!

I seem to be having a similar issue in Nebraska with BCBS. Two claims appear not to be found for BCBS, though, SP has their status listed as "accepted." I have not had issues with previous claims. Any way I can get some assistance? Uncertain who to contact but the issue seems similar. Thank you.

Hello (this is a different Kyle). I have been having similar issues with UnitedHealthCare. For multiple clients, they are saying that my claims are not "on file." Despite this, I see in my account on SP that the claims say "Accepted." I would appreciate some help with this, as well. Thank you.

I am having a similar problem with no payer claim Information - I need to resubmit rejected claims but the claim overview does not have payer claim information listed. Where else can I find original reference no?

    Hi Sue,

I have the same question on how to find the original payer claim control number when it doesn't pre populate when you edit to resubmit a claim. Can anyone let us know where to find this number. The United gave me a number and I tried that but the claim was still denied. When I called back they said it must be something to do with the clearinghouse because the claim number was correct.

Hi Sue and Reita, you can find the payer control number at the top of a processed claim when viewing it.

If you resubmit a claim and it gets denied because the payer claim control number wasn't entered, the new rejection does not include the payer claim control number anymore.  Where can I find this?

Also, the insurance denial for other denied claims states that a "13 digit alphanumeric payer claim control number must be entered", but the payer claim control number provided is only 12 digits.  Please help!
