Group vs individual taxonomy codes
Answered

I'm not sure if this is a group question or an insurance question.  I have an organizational NPI number and taxonomy code.  when I look up my taxonomy code on the NPI website, it is listed as both 193400000X SINGLE SPECIALTY GROUP and 1041C0700X - Social Worker Clinical.  My individual taxonomy code is the second one. Do I input the first code into my organizational NPI slot (which will populate into box 33b on claims), or the second one?

    Hi Vanessa,

I’ve reached out to you privately addressing these questions, so please let me know if you have any other questions by responding to the email thread I have started with you.

You'll want to have 193400000X as the taxonomy code under your Billing Provider Info for your group practice, since the designation of this taxonomy code is Single Specialty Group. This will be appear in box 33b on the claim form.

I can see that you've already put the other taxonomy code under your Clinician Information under your Basic Info. Since this is the code associated with your individual NPI, this will be sent along with your individual NPI when you file electronic claims with SimplePractice.
