SonderMind
Answered

Hello, I've partnered with SonderMind and have been getting a nice steady stream of client referrals from them.  Does anybody have tips about how to set up billing for this type of situation when I won't ever be collecting payment from the client? I want to make sure it doesn't throw off my analytics etc. and also reflects correct earnings when it comes time for taxes.  Thanks!

    Hi Nancy,

If you are manually adding the secondary insurance payment, you can edit the client's responsibility to $0 at the same time you are adding the secondary insurance payment. This will be similar to the steps for updating a coinsurance amount detailed in this guide: Updating coinsurance when adding an insurance payment

With an accepted Payment Reports enrollment, the secondary insurance payment will update the client's responsibility Automatically.

Please let me know if you have additional questions. I will be happy to help you.

Hi Margaret, I'd be happy to help with your question. One thing you may consider doing is entering SonderMind as an Insurance Payer under My Account > Settings > Insurance Payers. Then, you can set the client copay to $0. That way, when you receive payment from this third party, you can enter the payments as Insurance Payments under Billing > Insurance > Payments.

How do you handle a secondary insurance that pays the client's copay? It seems that when I enter the amount from the secondary insurance, it adds to the insurance payment, but does not zero out the copay, even though the amounts are the same.  Medicare is primary and Medicaid is secondary.  I Medicare through Simple Practice, but manually bill Medicaid.  I went back and added the secondary insurance and marked to add the additional fields, but something still needs to change.  Thank you.
