Formatting notes (for example, adding columns or tabs)

Is there any way to format text so that I can create columns or column-like ways to separate data? I do biofeedback and like to include results from the session. For example, I might want a column of heart rate and temperature averages across conditions:

     HR  temp

1  56    76

2  65    78


I did notice that when I tried to do this using spaces between each number, it either collapses down or creates what looks like a formatted text box:

Any thoughts or help?
