Difference between Progress Note and Psychotherapy Note?

Can someone please help me understand how to appropriately use the Progress Note section vs the Psychotherapy Note section? I'm not used to separating these. I read the available SP article and understand that the psychotherapy note is not considered part of the medical record but I don't understand how to functionally use them. Help appreciated.
