receiving payment when courtesy billing for my client
None

I am courtesy billing for my clients.  I have selected do not accept assignment on the claim form.  I am still getting payment from the insurance companies.  I contacted a few of the insurance companies and received different responses.  One said they will pay the submitter of the claim. Another company said they didn't see the claim form and couldn't verify if the box had been checked.

Has anyone had an issue like this and can offer some guidance on how to resolve?

Hi Kim, I'd be happy to help with this. If you select "do not accept assignment" on the claim form, typically, insurance payers will direct reimbursement to the client. However, some insurance payers always direct payment to the clinician regardless of what is entered on the claim form. Individual payers take different actions depending on the payer, so it's best to follow up with each payer individually to ensure that clients receive their reimbursements for your courtesy claims.
