Hi there! We are actively working on integrating a screensharing feature into our Telehealth platform and look forward to releasing this new feature on web and mobile soon.

Hi Gillian--what is the general timeframe of the screen sharing feature? It's an important part of my practice. I'm trying to decide whether I should drop the teletherapy part of my account until it's available and invest that money into a different resource for the time being. Thanks!

Hi Claire, we're actively testing our new Telehealth Screensharing feature, and look forward to releasing it soon. We do not have a specific due date to share at this time.

I am glad to see that screensharing is now possible. However, I can no longer see my client when I share my screen with them? Is it possible to add a window, so they are still visible to me or am I doing something wrong int he current platform?

Hi Amy, you can flip from the view of your video preview to your client's by clicking on your video preview while sharing your screen.

    Hello Gillian,

I am considering signing up for video conferencing with Simple Practice but I want to preview it first. Will it be possible to have multiple participants on a video call? I am thinking about offering group therapy with this platform.

I was able to share my screen during a session to show a video, but there was no audio for the video.  How can I share my screen to share a video and have audio of that video?

Hi Tara, SimplePractice does not currently support group calls via Telehealth. Theresa, you can simply unplug your headphones and use your computer's speaker to share audio when sharing your screen.

Hi Gillian, I tried to flip my view to the clients while screen sharing, and could not figure this out. I clicked on basically everything and nothing happened. Can you give more guidance about this?

    Hey Kristi,

It sounds like you were simply attempting to navigate back to the client's screen while screen sharing, or trying to go back to the session window where you could see your client, correct?

If so, while you are sharing a particular window, remember that your session itself will be in your web browser. For example, I actually am sharing a particular tab of my web browser here in session currently:

If I want to go back to the view to see my client, I will need to just click on the tab where my session is.

The session itself will always be in your browser, so just remember to locate that first and then find the specific tab where the meeting is opened. It will always say Telehealth by SimplePractice.

Is is it possible to use tele-health through Simple Practice to include two separate clients at two different locations in the same session with one therapist?

Hi Tonya, SimplePractice’s Telehealth platform does not currently support group and couple’s sessions. We are actively working toward this functionality.

I was using screen sharing with my client. She was able to see the screen with video, but there was no sound. I fiddled with everything I can think of but still nothing. Can you help?

Hi Chui-Tan, happy to help. SimplePractice's Telehealth platform doesn't currently support streaming audio using screensharing. A great way to watch videos with your client is to send clients the link to the video you'd like to watch in a Secure Message so you can watch it together and so that the client has high-quality audio.

I like the screen sharing functionality that has been added to the Telehealth platform.  Will you be adding features to allow for giving control to the participant (E.g. letting them annotate what is one the screen?)

    Thanks,

    Jolene

Two features that would greatly improve the quality of my therapy:

    1.  Streaming of audio when sharing videos or online books.  Some of my clients can hear the videos through my speakers and some have difficulty. All of my clients are children so even sending the parent a link to watch in Secure Message gives too much down time to a child and will often result in losing their attention.

    2.  Screen sharing that gives control to the participant so they can participate in online games that I screenshare.

    Thanks, Kim

Hi, I am able to screen share but I am unable to see the client's video while I am viewing the screen that I'm sharing. I saw your comment about flipping from the view of my video preview to your client's by clicking on your video preview while sharing your screen but I do not see any options to do this.

I'd also be interested in having multiple clients join in for a Telehealth call. I've had to move my groups that I usually do face-to-face to Telehealth during this current COVID-19 crisis and have to order another platform in the time being that supports this feature.

When I use Telehealth the share button is grayed out and nothing happens when I hit it. What am I doing wrong? I hope done the line to use it to share videos from other websites that are private and I cannot give my clients the passwords.

Is there an option for group therapy on a Telehealth call? Having multiple patients on one call? We are looking into starting to integrate group therapy as well.

I was able to screen share with one client but now that the session is over I can not screen share with other clients

Hi Catherine and Antonia, we are actively working toward functionality for couple's and group sessions via Telehealth. You can vote for this idea and subscribe to updates here: https://simplepractice.uservoice.com/forums/918553/suggestions/36553852

Paula, if you're sharing a tab from your browser, you'll want to tab back over to the Telehealth call to see your client. You can also pull both tabs out into a new window to have them both side-by-side using Split View on a Mac or Split Screen on a Windows computer.

Rebecca, check out this troubleshooting guide for screen sharing - you may need to enable a setting if you're using Chrome on a Mac: https://support.simplepractice.com/hc/en-us/articles/360001196372-Getting-started-with-Telehealth#screenshar

Ericka, please follow the link above to troubleshoot this, and make sure that you close all tabs and windows in your browser in case one of the tabs is still in a Telehealth call and sharing your screen.

Folks, let me know if you have any additional questions about this, or anything else SimplePractice. I'm here to help.

I’m sorry if I missed this in the above comments, but is screen sharing possible using the Telehealth app? I use an IPad for my telehealth sessions and downloaded the app so that, whether I try to open a call from my internet browser or from the app, the app is used for the call. I haven’t figured out a way to screen share while using the app (no visible share button), so if there’s something I can do to remedy this, let me know.

Hi!  Is there a screen sharing tutorial?  Thanks!

    Comment actions Permalink
  • Gillian

Hi Sarah, our Telehealth by SimplePractice app for mobile devices doesn't currently support screen sharing. To share your screen in SimplePractice's Telehealth platform, you'll want to use the full web version of SimplePractice.

Susan, you can find our tutorial on sharing your screen in Telehealth here: https://support.simplepractice.com/hc/en-us/articles/360001196372-Getting-started-with-Telehealth#screenshar

Is there a ETA of when we can except group/couple/family video session capabilities to be available?

Hi Sade, while we don't currently have a strict due date by which these features will be available, we are actively working on them. What can I do to trouble shoot the screen share capability?  It is not working on my account.  I use SAFARI and will try to use CHROME to see if that makes a difference.

    Please Advise.
