    Hi Ferda,

I understand that you're wondering where you can add a client's emergency contact information. In this case, you can follow these steps to do this:

    1. Search for and select the client in your search bar.
    2. Click Edit Details > Contacts.

    3. Click +Add Contact in the upper right corner.

    4. Click +New Contact (if you haven't added this contact before).

    5.  Next to the "Relationship Type" dropdown field, checkmark Emergency Contact.

    6. Complete the remaining information and click Save in the upper right corner.

Now the emergency contact's information will be saved in the client's profile.

If you have any additional questions regarding this, please reach out and let me know.

I was just made aware that my young adult's mother was receiving text & email reminders about their appointments! When I looked at the contact form, both boxes were checked. Please tell me that the client did this and I didn't goof somehow! Although I don't know how I would have.

I think the wording is a little awkward: "If you want to send this contact text or voice reminders, add their phone number(s)." It implies that just adding the phone number will generate reminders, and then has boxes to check below. It would be clearer to have the space for the phone number and underneath it say, "If you'd like to send this contact text or voice reminders, check the box(es) below."

    Hi Susan,

We'd be happy to help with this. Because this is specific to your account, I’ve created a help request on your behalf so that a member of our Success team can investigate this for you further. They’ll be reaching out to you with more information over email.

For future reference, the quickest way to get support for account-specific questions is to send us a help request by clicking the blue question mark icon on the lower right of your SimplePractice account > clicking Get Help. For more details, feel free to check out this Help Center guide: Logging in to SimplePractice and submitting help requests.

Although we're periodically monitoring the Community Forum, this is also a place for customers to exchange ideas and engage with one another on how to best use our platform. Thank you all for acting as resources for each other in the meantime.

This does not sound like an account specific question to me. I am concerned after reading this.

I would like to include my adult client’s emergency contact, but I definitely do not want them receiving any reminders.

If I don’t click voice message and text messages okay am I truly safe?

Hi Elizabeth - You're correct, if you go to your clients' Contacts tab > Manage > Edit Appointment Reminders and uncheck the boxes to "Send text/ voice reminders," and "Send email reminders," then the Contact won't get any reminders. Remember to also "Save" your changes.

Here is a screenshot from my test account:
