Charging a session on another's person credit card stored in stripe
Answered

I see a couple and the credit card is stored under the husband's profile.  Today, I did an individual session with the wife.  She does not have a card on file.  Is there anyway to pay with his card without adding him to the session?  Or does she need to upload her own card?

    Hi Carrie,

I'm happy to clarify this for you.

The credit card in the husband's client file cannot be used to pay for an individual session the wife had with you. This is because the invoice, or bill generated will be in the wife's file. If you'd like the husband to use his credit card to pay for this session, you'll need to add it in the wife's client file. I've outlined three ways you can do this:

    OPTION 1:

The first option is to enter the husband's credit card manually for the wife:

    • Navigate to the ADD PAYMENT box to the right of her client file
    • Select Stripe Credit Card from the options for payment type
    • Add the husband's name in the Cardholder's Name form field
    • Add the rest of the credit card information

    OPTION 2:

The second way is to Share the Credit Card Information form with the wife so she can fill it out with her husband's credit card information through the Client Portal

    • To do this click the Share button to the top right of her client file
    • Then check the box next to Credit Card Information, click Continue to Email
    • Make changes to your default email if you wish, click Continue to Review
    • Then click Share & Send Now

    OPTION 3:

Lastly, if you'd like the husband's name to appear on billing documents you create for the wife, I suggest adding him as her Contact and granting him access to her Client Portal as a third-party biller. Then, you can share the Credit Card Information form with the husband directly and have him pay for the session, or her entire balance through the Client Portal

If the husband hasn't already been added as a Contact, follow these instructions:

    • Go to the wife's client file, click Edit Details under her name
    • Click on the Contacts tab at the top
    • Click the +Add Contact button
    • Enter the husband's name in the search bar, then click his name to add him

Once he's been added as a Contact, follow these instructions to make him a third-party biller:

    • Click the Manage drop-down menu, select Manage Client Portal & Billing
    • Check the box next to "Responsible for billing"
    • Check the box next to "Allow Client Portal access"
    • Click Save

Once Client Portal access has been granted:

    • Click Manage > Manage Client Portal Access & Billing again.
    • In the Allow _____ access to section, you only need to check the box next to "Access this Client's billing documents", as well as "Pay a balance with credit card using Stripe," if you'd like this option.

Finally, you'll want to share the Credit Card Information form with the Contact:

    • Go to the client file and click the Share button in the top right corner
    • Make sure that the green check mark is only marked for the Contact
    • Click Continue to Share
    • Check the box next to Credit Card Information
    • Click Continue to Email
    • Make changes to your default email if you wish, click Continue to Review
    • Then click Share & Send Now

I created a couple and the mans credit card is the one showing for the couple even though I have selected the womens card to be responsible.  How can I get the correct card to show for the couple?

    Hi Kari,

I see that my colleague Kimmie was able to help you with your account.

For everyone's reference, here's how you can change the default credit card used on a couples profile:

    1. Click Edit beneath the couple's name.
    2. Click the Billing and Insurance tab.
    3. Click Edit next to the card you'd like to be the default.
    4. Toggle Default card to on.
    5. Click Update Card.
