Discount (custom) rate vs. Using Write-Offs

If I am seeing self-pay clients at a reduced rate, is it better to create a custom service code for this client or leave the rate as the full rate and enter a write-off each time? I'm inclined to do the write-off approach for tracking purposes, but would like some feedback.

    Hi Amber, I'd be happy to help with this. Most SimplePractice customers who offer custom rates to their clients prefer to enter the client's custom rate under Edit Details > Billing and Services > Default Service. That way, their custom rate is automatically applied to each session, so you don't need to manually enter a write-off for every session.
