EMDR BLS online
None

Hi,

Any ideas on how to integrate therapist administered bilateral stimulation into the Simple Practice online video session tool?

Thanks

I just had the part 2 basic emdr training and we had to do it vitrually. We learned how to do the BLS/DAS via telehealth. We used the butterfly tapping. So you interlink your thumbs and tap on shoulders. That way the therapist can see the clients hands and "start and stop" the DAS.

I have been using Telehealth with EMDR using BLS tapping for a long time (similar to how Gabrielle described) and it actually works pretty well. I have some clients that do not like/respond to the butterfly tapping method on themselves and will tap on their knees. Although I cannot see their knees, for them to achieve the desired tempo/speed of BLS, I use sound and or model the tempo by doing the butterfly tapping on myself, which if they close their eyes, they can hear it and mimic how fast or slow the tapping should be. :-)
