Feedback about Telehealth for Children?
AnsweredHello,
I wanted to get feedback about using telehealth with children.
Are there any therapist out there who have provided telehealth mental health services for children (under 14)?
I appreciate the feedback

Barbara,
All my clients are kids and teens. I have just started seeing them on telehealth this week due to COVID advisories.
It's different! But going better than I thought. So far it's mostly kids showing me their toys and art or conversations with parents about how they can support their kids through their own self-care.

I work with children as well, and am very curious about how/what others are doing. I have used more written "work sheets" than I would normally, for instance talking about "What's Your Stress" and what you can do about it. Also using alot of drawing, including making images as reminders for breathing techniques. FYI, I heard about a webinar this Friday that may be of interest?

This Thriving at Home "Telehealth Play Therapy Activities for Licensed Therapists" has been a great resource for ideas with kids during this time.

I think the Mary Alvord webinar can be viewed through this link:
Thanks so much Mindy for the link. I also suggested to SH that they incorporate a white board into the teleplatform. Dr. Alvord demonstrated using this and it was a great interactive tool.
