Stripe message "Payment could not be created"
AnsweredI'm using Stripe for client payments, and a client's brand new card that I successfully charged last week was declined this week with the message "Payment could not be created." What does this mean? It seems like something possibly wrong on my end rather than hers. It just seems fairly unlikely this week's issue is due to something fraudulent or something wrong with her card because this card is new.

I tried to run a payment on a card that has worked before and I get the message this card does not support this type of payment, client contacted her bank and they said they don’t even see a failed charge on their end so it isn’t her card it is something with stripe or simple practice. Any ideas?

Hi Kristine - Do you see this charge listed in Billing > Card Transactions? If so, the reason for the error message could be because you accidentally double clicked the Add Payment button when charging your client. Sometimes, the system will try to alert you against double charging a client, if you've charged the same card the same amount within a short period of time.
In order for us to verify the reason for this error message, I'd encourage you to submit a Help Request from your SimplePractice account. I’m having trouble with stripe as well. The confirm button either freezes, or I get an error message “does not support this type purchase” or “insufficient funds.”
I have done all I can on my end, I have emailed with support. I find it odd that 4 clients all have insufficient funds. I still think its an issue with simple practice’s end.

For the past month I have had several patient's cards declined with the error message, "Payment could not be created. Your card does not support this type of purchase." This credit cards have been successfully charged in the past and now they payment will not go through. I believe most of the cards are HSA accounts/cards? Can the Online Payments Team look into this for me ASAP?
