Telehealth Service Code
Answered

Has anyone been able to set up a Telehealth-Psychotherapy appointment so that it uses the same service code as psychotherapy (90837), but inserts a modifier? I can't find a way to set up Telehealth Psychotherapy as a service, because 90837 is already being used for in person psychotherapy. If I change this code, it will bill incorrectly. I just need 90837 and modifier of 95 to set up with a 60 minute Telehealth Psychotherapy service.

Hi Kandi - I'm happy to help.

It sounds like you're trying to add a modifier to a service code by changing your service codes in My Account > Settings > Billing and Services > Services. If you've already done this, please change your service codes back so they don't include a modifier. Instead, you'll want to enable modifiers for your practice in My Account > Settings > Billing and Services > Insurance, pictured here:

You'll now be able to add modifiers to your client's default service codes and to individual appointments, from the Calendar or a client's Billing page. You can also manually type modifiers into box 24 D. on a claim form.
