Telehealth Service Code
AnsweredHas anyone been able to set up a Telehealth-Psychotherapy appointment so that it uses the same service code as psychotherapy (90837), but inserts a modifier? I can't find a way to set up Telehealth Psychotherapy as a service, because 90837 is already being used for in person psychotherapy. If I change this code, it will bill incorrectly. I just need 90837 and modifier of 95 to set up with a 60 minute Telehealth Psychotherapy service.

Hi Kandi - I'm happy to help.
It sounds like you're trying to add a modifier to a service code by changing your service codes in My Account > Settings > Billing and Services > Services. If you've already done this, please change your service codes back so they don't include a modifier. Instead, you'll want to enable modifiers for your practice in My Account > Settings > Billing and Services > Insurance, pictured here:
You'll now be able to add modifiers to your client's default service codes and to individual appointments, from the Calendar or a client's Billing page. You can also manually type modifiers into box 24 D. on a claim form.
Click here for more detailed instructions on all the ways you can add modifiers.

I posted this elsewhere in the thread but it bares repeating. The modifer should be attached to the service code and not the client. It is repetitive and a pain to have to enter this on an individual basis when every client reeving this service needs to have the same modifier. This goes for tele- health and other services such as my situation with Equine Therapy which is held outside of the office (modifier 99). We should be able to create service codes with modifiers attached.

Hi Bridget, like I mentioned in the other post, please add this feature request to our Ideas and Suggestions Board for further consideration: http://simplepractice.uservoice.com/ . Looking forward to hearing from you!
