Agreed! The DSM 5 has been in effect and use for 7 years! The out of date information is messing up my insurance billing. It doesn't make ANY sense that Simple Practice has DSM-IV!

Hi Everyone - I can certainly clarify why our diagnosis codes aren't reflecting the most recent DSM.

We actually don't use DSM codes in SimplePractice, we use ICD-10 Codes instead. We regularly update the ICD-10 codes available to our customers.

The reason we use ICD-10 codes is to make sure our customers are getting paid for claims they submit to insurance payers. Insurance payers only process and pay for billed sessions with billable ICD-10 codes. You can peruse the complete list of updated ICD-10 codes here: https://www.icd10data.com/ICD10CM/Codes

If you'd like us to add any billable ICD-10 codes that aren't listed in SimplePractice, or if there is an existing code with an outdated description, I'd encourage you to submit a Help Request to our Customer Success Group. Click here to submit a Help Request: SimplePractice Help Request Form

I'm going to close this thread for additional comments, but you're welcome to add your additional thoughts to this post: DSM-5 Diagnoses and Specifiers.
