I created the original post on this thread. I'm grateful to have other SP users join in, and say that they would also like to know how (or if) we can record during telehealth sessions on SP.

However, since there have been no real answers or solutions put forward, my boss and I have concluded that it is not possible to record. Others may choose different solutions to the same problem, but I have chosen to move clients in the modality where I am seeking certification to Zoom, where we also have a HIPAA-compliant account, and where I can record telehealth sessions. It is an expensive, and inconvenient work-around, but it does work.

I am considering dropping the telehealth version of SP (keep the emr) and move telehealth to gotomeeting.com  $12/mo and does EVERYTHING i need telehealth to do!

Same here. I almost dropped simple practice as quickly as I got it because of the support. I think it’s abominable and inexcusable. On a trial of GoToMeeting I was able to get Customer support easily and immediately whereas it takes an active God to get it with simple practice. I will be looking around for another EMR

I have set up a recording on my computer using a screen recorder software:

I am able to record the session and quickly trim parts I do not want. Of course, I have clients' consent.

I’m sure that’s lovely but it is also pricey. I’ll just dump SP telehealth.

Thanks, Jack! It turns out I don't really have the option of letting go of SP telehealth, so I was just going to delay any additional supervision/certification until after Covid ends and in-person sessions resume. I'll pitch the product you've suggested to my boss instead.

Hi All - We sincerely apologize for the time it's taken to address this post.

Our Customer Success Group has been inundated with requests since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. We're currently working on how to efficiently respond to Community Forum posts during these unprecedented times. However, the quickest way for you to get in touch with us directly is by submitting a SimplePractice Help Request Form. You can also reach us on our Live Chat feature, offered Tuesday - Thursday, 7am - 6pm PT (learn more here).

To answer your original question, there isn't a way to record your Telehealth sessions through SimplePractice. We're open to hearing about ways to improve upon our Telehealth feature here, on our Ideas and Suggestions Board.

As some of you have mentioned, there are clinicians who use external softwares to record their SimplePractice Telehealth sessions. We can't advise you on selecting a software we haven't vetted ourselves; however, if you choose to record your sessions, we'd encourage you to seek a HIPAA compliant software to do so. It's especially valuable to have the insight of other SimplePractice users on posts like this.

Although we're periodically monitoring the Community Forum and plan on improving our response times to questions posed here, this is also a place for customers to exchange ideas and engage with one another on how to best use our platform. Thank you all for contributing to this post and acting as resources for each other in the meantime.

Thank you for responding, Ruth! I can only imagine the volume of requests SP must be receiving. Our practice is very happy with SP, in spite of not having this one feature.

Thanks for all you and others at SP are doing!

I just want to say how pleased I am with Simple Practice, and even their customer service. I use the form provided to submit my questions, and I have ALWAYS heard back within 2 days. In addition, I've gotten multiple follow-up emails after the answer has come through to make sure my question was answered. I have no complaints and appreciate their desire to enhance the services offered.

    Hi.

I need to record my sessions as well. I will add it to  Ideas and Suggestions Board.

I hope you all will do the same.

Hi Everyone - It's me again!

Just wanted to thank you once more for all the feedback and for continuing this conversation on our Ideas and Suggestions Board.

I'm eager to hear what you all have to say there! I'm going to close this thread for additional comments, so all your ideas get redirected to one place for further consideration.
