Hi Craig and Jacqueline - Currently, all appointments without Progress Notes, including Late Cancellations, No-Shows and Cancelled appointments, will generate a reminder. However, we're open to hearing your thoughts on this. For further consideration, please post this idea on our Ideas and Suggestions Board: http://simplepractice.uservoice.com/

I don’t believe cancelled appointments generate a reminder, however the others that you mention do. I’m curious what type of progress note would one do for a no show Or late cancel appointment? I did not learn this in school so I’m just wondering why this would generate a reminder? Perhaps there is a reason, I’m just not sure what it is.

Hi Jacqueline - You're correct, Cancelled appointments don't generate Reminders. The reason for this is that normal appointment Cancellations usually don't fall outside the terms of your Cancellation policy. I've seen customers note the reason for Late Cancellations, or No-Shows for their own recordkeeping. Also, since Late Cancellations and No-Shows, by default, charge your clients you full rate for the service, it may be helpful to log a reason for this charge.
