I am an associate level therapist in private practice with my own Simple Practice account. I am supervised by an LCSW who has her own Simple Practice Account. When we put her email in my supervisor section it says "email already taken" and does not allow us to continue setting up the supervision portion. We need this resolved asap for me to be able to practice.

I chose Simple Practice to start my private practice due to the fact my Supervisor also uses Simple Practice, therefore, it seems it would be a common thing for a supervisor's email to be in your system if we are all using the same platform. Please advise. Thanks so much! :)

Hi Amy - At this time there's no way for an SimplePractice customer to use the same email in accessing two different practice's accounts. The reason being, each email address is directly associated with a single team member role, this is how we differentiate between our customers and various accounts. You'll want to use a different email address for your Supervisor, or add a modifier to her current email address when you enter her in as a team member.

To clarify, many email providers allow you to add email modifiers to the handle of the email address so that you can differentiate the emails, but have all modified versions route to the same inbox. For example, with Gmail, you can add a + sign followed by any letter or number to the handle of the email. Emails sent to ruth@gmail.comruth+1@gmail.com and ruth+1abc@gmail.com will all be sent to the same inbox. You can do a quick google search to find out how to add a modifier to your biller's email address. Then, you can use the modified email address to add them as a new team member.
