Payer claim number
AnsweredWhere can I find a payer claim number on my claims sent in to insurance? I can only find a reference number

Hi John, happy to help. Typically, payer claim numbers are assigned by the payer's electronic claim filing system. If a payer sends this information to us, it will be noted underneath the client's name when viewing a claim. It looks like you're working with my colleague Jordan on getting the payer claim number for claims you've submitted recently. We're looking forward to continuing to help with this.

I contacted the payer (Wisconsin Medicaid) and they explained that the payer claim number should be on the claim form. It is not with Simple Practice -- only the Reference Number. Other articles from Simple Practice say that the payer claim number is on the Claim Payment overview. That is not the case either.

Hi John, it sounds like there's a miscommunication between the payer and our clearinghouse - my colleague Jordan requested some additional information from you in your private correspondence so we can help track down the payer claim number(s) for you. Typically, the payer claim number is available in SimplePractice, but sometimes payers don't communicate this information to SimplePractice's clearinghouse. In these cases, we need some additional information from you so that we can obtain this information from the payer.
