OON LG with in network LC
AnsweredHello! I am an out of network LG whose new supervisor is in network with a lot of insurance companies. I used to get around this by my practice owner being billed for the OON plans that required an LC, but I am now opening my own practice and will no longer have that option. I know that since the claims are usually based off of EIN and not NPI, this won't be an issue with all plans, but I am wondering if there is a way I can bill and create claims for my clients that doesn't cause an issue due to my supervisor being on the claim if the plan requires and LC on the claim. Is there a way to use the practice/LLC name or use a third party billing route on SP? Would it make a difference if my clients were submitting their own OON claims? Thanks!

Hi Nikki, this will largely depend on the licensing bodies in your state and the insurance payer. I'd recommend reaching out to the payer to verify you're eligible for this and to let them know your plans to bill under your Supervisor's credentials, then follow these instructions on incident-to billing: https://support.simplepractice.com/hc/en-us/articles/360018835852-How-to-bill-insurance-under-your-supervisor-s-credentials . Let me know if you have any other questions about this!
