Secondary insurance w/higher contracted amount
Answered

Hi there, does anyone happen to know if a secondary insurance policy will pay the difference between their contracted amount and the primary insurance contracted amount?

In this case, the primary insurance paid 100% of their contracted amount, but the secondary insurance has a higher contracted amount for the same service. Is there any way I can bill the secondary insurance for that difference?

Hi Emily, happy to clarify! The secondary insurance is only responsible for paying your client's copay amount, or what the first insurance won't pay of the primary's contracted rate. You won't be able to bill the secondary insurance according to your contracted rate with the secondary insurance.
