Hi Reshma, you can write your notes directly into any note form fields in SimplePractice with your iPad's pencil feature. Is there a different functionality that the current note fields don't allow you that you'd like to add using your iPad pencil?

Hi Ruth. Thank you for responding. Yes, I can write directly into my Progress Notes, and I am glad to be able to do that. What I would love is ruled note paper, that I can scribble on-no text boxes, not anything that is confined - I was looking for a scratch pad or scribble pad feature. I wonder if I can scan a legal pad sheet and use that? But that is what i was looking for - something like having a legal pad next to me, where I can jot down some things that do not "belong" to formal text boxes in any of the documents/notes. I hope I am explaining myself clearly.

Hi Reshma, that's not a functionality we currently have, or are currently working on. However, you can add notes you don't want to be included in a client's official medical record to the Psychotherapy Notes text box. If you're looking for a note taking platform that isn't particularly confined to a box, appointment, or client file, I'd recommend looking for a HIPAA compliant app that has this functionality. The notes taken on the external app can be screenshot and uploaded to a client's file as an attachment, or they can remain entirely separate from your SimplePractice account. Let me know if I misunderstood you!

The problem with this is they can not be uploaded onto the screen of the psychotherapy note. it is an attachment on the far right or embedded very small as an “image” you have to open before viewing. I want the information to appear within the square text box of the psychotherapy note and there is no drag feature to bring from an external app that I can see

Hi Leanne, you're correct, the attachment to a note will not appear as preview image and you will have to open it to see the contents of the attachment. Also, there's no way to specifically add the attachment to your Psychotherapy Note section, it will be attached to the Progress Note. If you'd like us to consider adding a preview function to the note attachment box, comment on and upvote this feature request: https://simplepractice.uservoice.com/forums/918553/suggestions/38248813 . If you'd like to add it directly to your Psychotherapy Note, you can comment on and upvote this feature request: https://simplepractice.uservoice.com/forums/918553/suggestions/39925306
