Do you use the same insurance modifier for an MSE as you do for a regular therapy session?

  Hi Gwendolyn, happy to clarify this for you! The Mental Status Exam created in a client's Overview page > New > Mental Status Exam can't be billed and won't be attached to an appointment. You can, however, go to your Settings > Notes & Forms > Template Library > find the Mental Status Note and hit +Add. Once you've done this, you can add a Mental Status Note as a Progress Note Template for an appointment. The type of Progress Note Template you select doesn't have anything to do with how you'll bill insurance. You'll want to add the modifier based on the services you rendered. Also, if you're holding a session via Telehealth, you may need to add a Telehealth modifier.
