Updating Treatment Plans

Hi Anne, I've seen customers create a new Diagnosis & Treatment Plan from the client's Overview page > New > Diagnosis & Treatment Plan > Create from previous, then manually add text that indicates an "UPDATED" section, or edit over the duplicated Treatment Plan.

If we have sent a treatment plan doc to the client to electronically sign, how do we send a new/updated one? When I click to share, the treatment plan doc is grayed out because I already sent the initial one.

I have the same question, how to update a treatment plan and send the new updated version to client. Do I need to create a new one from scratch?

How do I mark goals as met or discontinued, etc. I just cant believe that SP wouldnt have that feature as meeting goals are THE main part of therapy?

I have not found an ACTUAL way to do this - I will update the treatment and put the progress - lack of - or completion of goal in caps right beside the goal in the tx plan.  I put in my notes too but I like a quick easy way to find info.

Dont you think this should be a feature that obviously should be available. Them TX plan page seems will get overwhelming when we keep writing met or discontinued then creating different goals ... seems like it will get very loooong.

YES!  I think a lot of work needs done regarding the tx plan piece.  The review - the update - marked progress section - dating when updating etc...

Any idea how to request this peice gets updated. I just cant accurately treat long term with out this piece unless I'm doing a ton of extra work.

You have to put in a request/idea for them to look at.

Same question. This is a labor intensive process for routine work. Treatment Plan Reviews were more accessible in the past but now it seems you have to Unsign them to add progress notations. Any idea how we advance this to Simple Practice?

Is there anyway to know what objectives and interventions have been used/documented in sessions.  I would like to be able to go into the treatment plan and see check marks next to the client objectives and interventions that have already been used/documented. How do you keep tract of what you have worked on with clients and what still needs to be completed.  I think this would also make reviews easier.  Any tips would be appreciated as well as how one navigates the review process.

What happened to the "Create from previous" button? This is a cumbersome process already in SP, but now we don't have that any longer?

Karalynn, No they didn't take that out? WHAT!

I hope I'm just missing it...(which is very possible!)

I don't see it either!  Trying to update a tx plan and I can't (the create from previous button is gone)!  Bring it back! Increasing the price and taking out a useful tool in SP??

Also, desire a way to easily update the treatment plan or create a new one. As I move forward in the new year with clients many of the goals have been met but there is no space for progress and/or what is next or new approaches.

Came here to see how to update a Tx plan as it's such a basic feature SP should have. They don't have it, apparently, which really sucks as I need to do this for an insurance carrier. SimplePractice, please fix this!

So we have no choice but to unlock it in order to update it? Will it look bad that it's been unlocked?

Wondering about this also. I see the button is gone. I wonder if it's because Wiley was used for the original and now Wiley is not in the plan I chose. Redoing every single treatment plan is going to be a nightmare if this is the case when I just want to update and make changes to some existing goals and objectives. Simple Practice, please assist!

I just came to this page to also figure out why I can't update a treatment plan without unlocking, editing, and functionally erasing the old treatment plan from the record. This is a major flaw and I'm shocked that no one from Simple Practice has responded on here with the fix. Has anyone heard back?!?!

    I have not!

I sent them a direct request, we'll see what they say!

Please advise how I can just update the existing treatment plan, not recreate it from scratch. This is the most likely procedure for most clinicians, once a client is established and has huge bearing on time spent maintaining and updating existing clients. Please advise, Simple Practice.

You go to the clients page > click the NEW button and click diagnosis and treatment plan > Click load previous

This should populate the past treatment plan.

But Miranda, that wasn't exactly the question . You are saying how to creat a completely new tx plan with from the previous signed one. This creates extra documents that shouldn't be necessary. Plus there is no space that is created to state the progress/ status of each goal. I'm it's basic work of a therapist to update goals consistently naming them continue progress, discontinuing (for whatever reason) and met! If you are a therapist you will see how SP did not meet our basic therapy treatment needs and how this area is just looking thrown together and sloppy when we have to open new treatment plans and try to document inside blanks that state objective and intervention.

Thank you so much everyone! I was afraid it was just me. The treatment plan stuff is horrible and incompatible with what we actually do to professionally treat our clients. Did SP actually consult with any therapists??? Literally importing a Word or editable PDF would work better. PLEASE MAKE IMPROVEMENTS!!!

I’m glad to see others having this question. I’m pretty new to SimplePractice. Nice to get the reminder for plan reviews, but then there’s no way to update them? There’s a pretty frustrating flaw.

Major flaw! So frustrating as I have been asked for a chart review and there is no way to do it!

So after looking through the last 2 years of comments regarding this issue, it seems it still hasn't been resolved. I am new to SP and have been using for 4 months and am beginning to receive reminders to review the treatment plan, but there is no way to facilitate updating the treatment plan without getting rid of the current treatment plan. I am beginning to think I will have to develop my own treatment plan through a word doc and upload.
