ComPsych EAP
AnsweredMy biller is going to start submitting my ComPsych EAP claims through SP. On the Billing and Info page how do I show this correctly? I have ComPsych EAP already listed as one of my payors, but what do I when it asks for a Member ID before it will accept the claim when I don't actually have a Member ID? I do have the portion above completed with the client's Managed Care Insurance info. I have completed the portion where the EAP info is needed--preauthorization number, valid date of the EAP, number of sessions. Thank you.

Hi Patricia, you'll want to confirm the proper way to bill the client's EAP with the insurance payer directly. Have you already billed the client's Primary Insurance: Managed Care? Billing EAPs in SimplePractice varies from payer to payer, as some payers allow you to bill them directly, some require you to add a modifier, while other customers bill EAP claims directly through the payer's online portal. Here are some questions you'll want to ask ComPsych:
1. Should you bill Managed Care, or submit a claim to Managed Care first?
2. Is the client's ComPsych EAP Member ID the same as their Managed Care Member ID? If it's different, what is the ComPsych Member ID?
3. If you've already billed Managed Care, should the ComPsych claim be resubmitted as a corrected primary claim, a new primary claim, or a secondary claim?
If you need additional assistance after asking these questions to the payer, our Insurance Team will be happy to help. You can reach out to them by submitting an email Help Request. -
Hi- I am having all the same issues, I need to add compsych eap as well. It is their primary claim. I see compsych listed in the list of insurance, but is eap different than the one you already have in your system? I would really like to talk to someone on phone to walk me through this, as I am still trying to learn how to navigate SP.

Hi Jennifer, happy to help. First, we recommend reaching out to ComPsych and running through the questions my colleague Ruth posted above. If you would like a call with the SimplePractice team after getting these answers from ComPsych, we'd be happy to set up some time - just reach out through the link Ruth posted above or the ? bubble in your SimplePractice account.
