I have the same question.  Are these necessary to do?

Hi everyone! If you don't use the MSE in SimplePractice, you can simply click the X next to the Reminder to do the MSE to dismiss it.

So it is not necessary?  We just have to keep x'ing it out of reminders?

Hi Angela, whether or not it's necessary to complete a MSE is dependent on your specialty's licensing board and insurance documentation requirements. However, if you don't need to complete MSEs or are completing these exams elsewhere in your practice, you can dismiss the reminder by clicking the X.

Hi Angela, you can find the X to dismiss Mental Status Exam reminders here under Reminders.

Gillian, I'd like to remove receiving the reminder to create a MSE. I do not want to create them, nor do I want to be reminded about doing one. How do I do this?

Hi Sage, currently there's no way to deactivate the MSE Reminders from getting generated. After you get the Reminder, you can do as Gillian suggested and dismiss it by clicking the X!

I'd like to suggest that Simple Practice create a way for providers to remove this reminder. When the reminders are flooded with things we don't need, it makes it hard to keep track of the reminders we actually are using.

    Thanks!

I Agree with Kelly, just above! This becomes mental noise, not necessary, and robs us of the attention that should be placed elsewhere. Can Simple Practice please prioritize removing this reminder, or making it optional in "the master settings"?

I would also like to make this optional and not have a reminder.

I agree with everyone asking to remove the MSE. I am on a 30 day trial and a former software engineer. I had no idea why the MSE was just popping up with no explanation. If the solution to reminding me of something I do not want or need is: "dismiss it by clicking the X," it makes me wonder what other ridiculous "solutions" SimplePractice has. I am looking to switch from Theranest and this thread does not instill confidence.

Does anyone know how to download the MSE?

I also agree with this request to remove the MSE. Clinicians should be able to turn off or on reminders that are applicapble to their practice. I already do a MSE in my progress notes and do not want to be prompted for this.

Just checking in to see if SP has any updates to this problem? The treatment plan and MSE are included in my progress note, and I do not want to receive automatic reminders about them.

Please make the Mental Status Exam reminder optional - I'd like to turn it off for clients, instead of having to manually dismiss the reminder each time I have a client session.

I am new to Simple Practice but it hasn't been simple to learn how to use.  I would also like to urge website/program developers at Simple Practice to have a setting we can use to stop the reminders for Mental Status Exams altogether rather than having to dismiss it for every. single. client. session.  I agree with the therapists and clinicians above that having to dismiss the reminder to do a Mental Status Exam each time it shows up on the Reminders list is a waste of time, focus and energy.  As a Simple Practice newbie, I'm spending tons of time learning how to locate settings, modify documents, figure out billing, etc.  Please make this change in the program a priority for your next program update. Thank you.

Can someone please look into fixing this? It is very cumbersome.

Yep.  I just discovered this issue this morning.  Same here, it's part of my progress notes.  Looks like I'm not alone, that makes me feel validated by my peers.  I'd love to feel validated by SimplePractice, too.  Any updates?

I also would like the MSE made optional as well as notes -I for many reasons do hand written notes and would love to not get millions of reminders for tasks that are not applicable to my particular practice. Thanks so much

Agreed this should be optional and seems like an easy fix to allow providers to change this in settings.

agreed...I don't want to have to click and extra "x"

I agree with the aforementioned comments. Getting reminders is great but only for the documents we utilize. We can select what documents we send to clients why not be able to select which documents and reminders we prefer to use in our practice?

I also find this cumbersome as I do not use the MSE and would like an accurate reading of how many reminders I have at a glance. Please offer a deactivate button.

The people in charge of Simple Practice seem to be alright with ignoring their users' requests for helpful features.

Yes, it does feel as if SP is ignoring the need to address this issue. Seeing other's post the request for 2 years with no reply other than additional work to turn it off for each client, it does seem SP could show some respect to users by acknowledging they either have no intention of removing this, or are working on it. I too find it cumbersome. We do a mental status exam during the assessments in our practice, and it is also a part of each appointment notes. Important to do, but doing a separate MSE is just extra work nobody has time for, as well as clicking every reminder with an "x" as they suggested.

Please remove it or allow us to customize it. It is a very basic MSE and we are not comfortable answering some but not all status components
