Merging clients who are married but seen as individuals by different clinicians

My wife and I form a two person group practice.  I see a husband in a couple and my wife sees the wife of the couple.  They are seen individually, not for couple's therapy.  Simple Practice noticed that the husband put his wife as his emergency contact (and visa versa) and has asked whether I want to merge the emergency contact with the wife's profile.  What will happen if I do that?  And, should I do that?

  Hi Jeff, I'd suggest merging the two. If you don't enable Client Portal access for the Contact, merging the wife's Contact Profile with her client file will just indicate that these entries were made for the same person.
