Hi Amanda and Ellen, happy to help! Go to the client's file > Billing tab, find the Cash payment, click on it and delete it. Next, navigate to the ADD PAYMENTS box to the right of the client's file, select Stripe Credit Card as the billing type and enter the amount you'd like to charge the card on file. Let me know if you have any other questions!

Hi Ruth, I'm following along here too. I'm struggling to see where to delete the cash payment. When I delete the invoice and add a new one, it says PAID again.

Thanks in advance for your help!

    Hello,

I was able to delete the invoice bu the payment still shows in the client billing, as if the client paid twice. How do I erase that?

How to change payment from cash to stripe after it's invoiced-Was there ever any resolution to this? I recently did the same thing.  I don't understand Ruth's instructions.  How/Where do you delete a cash payment.

    Hello Ruth,

this did not work to delete the payment so now the client's account is showing a credit of the invoice that was deleted.

    Please help.

    Thank you

I, too, have a similar problem where I accidentally processed a client's payment as cash when it should have been a stripe card. I was able to delete the invoice and applied the stripe payment, but now it shows that she has one credit and made two payments.

So I just figured it out. You have to switch the classic view to see client's payments and then delete the mistaken payment. But it makes no sense that you can't do it in the new view. SimplePractice needs to fix this issue now if the classic view is going away soon.

I may be a bit off - I can not seem to find the delete button to correct an incorrect cash payment!  Any help would be appreciated!

Rebecca, try under transactions, then hit edit.

How do I switch to Classic view to fix this problem.  Just started on this platform.

I am having the same issue. I don't seem to have the option to switch to Classic view in order to fix the problem. I used to see the option but now that I need to use it I can't find the "classic view" option any longer.

    Carla,

Classic view is no longer available. To see all of the transactions, select Transactions (under Billing tab) under Billable.

Gosh, I am now having the same issue. I deleted the invoice. I am under transitions (under billing tab). I see the cash payment (that I need to delete),but no option to delete it. Anyone have additional guidance? Thanks in advance

**Edited to note that you actually have to select the "transactions" tab next to the dates to open a new view. There you can edit/delete a payment.

The only way now (because classic view is gone) is to add a payment with a negative amount to offset the cash payment.

Samuel Riesterer, just do what Ximena did and select the "transactions" option on the drop-down menu next to the dates.

Hi all, I accidentally charged cash rather than stripe.  I was able to follow the top instructions to delete the invoice and charge the stripe appropriately but now I'm having the same issue as others- now it appears the client has a credit even though they don't (as I never received cash of course). I am under transitions (under billing tab). I see the cash payment (that I need to delete) but no option to delete it.  I'm not sure what drop down menu people are referencing- tried entering the dates but still unable to delete so it's this last step I need help with.  Thanks so much!

Same Problem here Wesleigh.  I'm not sure why SimplePractice has not resolved this yet.

Wesleigh and Benjamin, make sure you first have the correct date range selected under the billing tab in which the transaction occurred. Second, make sure you have deleted all invoices and superbills related to the transaction. Third, select "Transactions" under the drop-down menu next to the dates. Fourth, look for the "Edit" link next to the cash transaction and select it. Once you select it, you will see the "Delete Payment" link in red. Select it. A window will open asking if you are sure you want to delete it; select Delete Now. I hope that helps.

I realized I was on the wrong page altogether.  Finally found a photo that helped me realize I was looking in the long place.  Hopefully this helps anyone else who was stuck like I was lol

I had the same problem and this string has been helpful, thank you! To do my part, here is a view of when the transaction view and where you find the "delete payment" option:
