I personally have never had any luck with BCBS so I dropped them. With other insurance companies I've had my request honored. Aetna is another one that I am not having any luck with. Cigna is the easiest to work with and I feel valued by them

I basically send in a letter that says something like

More than ___% of my clients come from ___(insurance company contacting) I would like to continue to prioritize the needs of your company. However currently my rate with ___insurance company is ______ and that is approximately ___ lower than ____ and my self pay rate which is _____. At this time I am asking that you review my contract and provide and fair increase of ____ as I would like to continue working with you.

More than 75% of my clients come from Cigna I would like to continue to prioritize the needs of your company. However currently my rate with Cigna  is 75.00 and that is approximately $40.00 lower than UBH and my self pay rate which is $115.00. At this time I am asking that you review my contract and provide and fair increase of $40.00as I would like to continue working with you. It has also come to my attention that my peers are also being paid a higher rate of $110.00 per 60 minute session.  I look forward to making this contract revisions with you soon.

To date Aetna has never replied and neither has BCBS so I do not see clients from them. I refuse to work for less than what other companies will pay, so I prioritize UBH and Cigna above all others. They've been really easy to work with and I normally have my rate adjusted within 8 days and put into effect within 60 -90 days. Since we can't discuss our rates per our contracts I won't say who pays what, but I did receive a 31.00 per hour rate increase with one of the companies I work with.

Thanks for this information!  Ive been having a hard time finding who to send the request for Cigna and UBH to?  Could you direct me to the proper department for the request?  Thank you so much!
