Suggestion: Have Invoices print legal name instead of preferred name

Invoices show up with the preferred name, when clients go to pay these they use them to send to their insurances for FSA reimbursement. If they name doesn't match, then the insurance isn't reimbursing them. It creates double work for us to go in and change each invoice for a client to be able to do this.

Having the same issue! On the Superbill, at the very bottom where is says "Make Payments To ....." the name listed is the preferred name. If this is not the client's legal name, the insurance company pushes it back because they don't know who that person is. There's no way to edit this part of the Superbill. SimplePractice, can we get some help here!!

I am also having this problem and am having to retroactively change every invoice and suberbill for the past 6 months on a client. We need the ability to choose what name goes on the billing documents. Preferred names are NOT what the insurance companies have on record as a member and they are not paying for people they don't insure. That requires us to invalidate clients by removing their preferred names from the chart - disastrously - or change each and every billing document one at a time after the fact.
Please make the billing documents default to the name on insurance or legal name and do not use the preferred name on these documents.

I, too, had this problem and months ago when I started with Simple Practice and emailed the help desk I was told no one else had ever had this issue. I was told there is a forum and that if I posted a suggestion and enough people "voted" on it they would consider making a change.
It's great that we can enter a preferred name but problematic that we can't select where it shows up. I worked at a large urban hospital for years; we had EPIC and they would use the name on the insurance for bills and certain mailings and the wrist bands, labels, notes, etc. automatically used the preferred name. Simple Practice can do this too.
Many of my clients are transgender and this will "out" them without their consent.
Simple Practice, please create a way we can choose how to list "pay to" on a superbill so that it does not cause more work for us or our clients.

For some background, invoices will only include the client's Preferred Name, as these documents are intended to be shared only with the client for them to pay you.
Superbills reflect the Legal Name in the Client and Insured sections, so that the insurance payer can identify the client. The Preferred Name will only appear in the To section on the top left, and in the Make payments to section on the bottom right, as shown below.
