Changing from SSN to EIN midyear
AnsweredI am not comfortable with continuing to use my SSN on invoices with clients. I never had that issue in the past, because they paid me by check in my office, but now that I am doing telehealth and billing through Simple Practice, that information is spread more widely. My concern is how to switch to an EIN without the insurance companies making a mess of it. Any suggestions?

Hi Pamela,
Note that you can hide your SSN from invoices if you like. Here's how:
- Go to Settings > Billing & Services.
- In the Tax ID or SSN field, enter your SSN exactly in this format, with the hyphens included: xxx-xx-xxxx.
- You will then see an option to Display SSN on, and you can select from Superbills and Invoices, Superbills only, or None.
- Click Save.
For more detail, you may also reference this Help Center guide: Tax ID (EIN) or SSN displaying incorrectly.
If you prefer to update your insurance enrollments to an EIN number, please feel free to reach out to us directly from your account by clicking the blue question mark icon > Get Help option on the lower right, and our Insurance group would be glad to help.
