    Hi Erin,

While there is not currently a way to select if you would like a client's name or legal name to appear in a superbill's Make Payment To field, we understand your feedback and how important this is.

First, if you have a moment, I encourage you to vote or add your comment to the Preferred name should not go on the billing documents idea which has been added to our Ideas & Suggestions Board. When you vote or comment on this post, you'll automatically receive our status updates on this feature. If you're curious, here's more information about how a customer idea can become a SimplePractice feature: Customer feedback: How a customer idea can become a feature in SimplePractice.

Next, there are two options for modifying your superbills in the meantime:

    1. You may download the superbill by clicking the down arrow icon on the top right of the document > modify the Make Payments To field using a PDF editor such as Preview on a Mac > Upload the edited superbill to the client's profile > Share the edited superbill with the client.
    2. Prior to creating a superbill, you may go to Edit > Client Info > delete the Preferred name > click Save Client > create the superbill > return to the Edit > Client Info page > re-enter the Preferred name > click Save Client.

If you would like additional guidance related to your account, please feel free to reach out to us by clicking the blue question mark > Get Help option on the lower right of your SimplePractice account and we'd be glad to work with you.
