Mobile app data usage is 1GB/30 minutes???

What is the per minute data usage for video sessions on the mobile device *supposed* to be? Yesterday I did a session using mobile data and it used 1GB in 30 minutes!!!

I don't use any data on my work cell but I have always a 1GB of data on the plan as a backup, in case, for example, the internet goes out but apparently 1GB is only half of a session???

We had to finish the session by telephone which is not a great look - especially since it was a first session :  (

Is there a low data feature for mobile? That is insane data consumption.
