Unallocated Payments

I need help with the unallocated payments as my system is getting completely messed up. It is saying there is no invoice attached and I can't tell if the client has overpaid, paid, etc. Can someone please help me?

  Yes, please advise. The unallocated payment system in NOT intuitive.  I can get the payment to apply.

  Please fix the unallocated payments. They are always off/wrong. Invoices are paid for, SP says it's unallocated, client thinks they have a credit when they never do. This is very time consuming for practices to fix!
