Important: By enabling syncing between your SimplePractice calendar and an external calendar, you acknowledge and agree to follow HIPAA compliance requirements and protect your calendar information, including the secure Telehealth video link. Once synchronized, all of your Telehealth appointments will be included in your external calendar, along with all associated secure video links. You can access these links in your external calendar to join Telehealth appointments.
SimplePractice offers basic calendar sync for Apple Calendar, which lets you view SimplePractice appointments and events in your Apple Calendar.
Note: Out of office blocks added in SimplePractice won’t appear in your Apple Calendar.

Note: This basic calendar sync only syncs in one direction: from SimplePractice to Apple Calendar. You won’t be able to create or modify SimplePractice appointments from Apple Calendar, or view Apple Calendar events in SimplePractice. Syncing your SimplePractice calendar with Apple Calendar
To get started, you can copy the automatically generated Calendar URL from your SimplePractice account. To do this:
- Navigate to Settings > Scheduling and inquiries > Calendar
- Under Apple Calendar, click Copy link
Note: If you're in a group practice, only your calendar will sync to Apple Calendar. The sync won’t include appointments assigned to other clinicians.
After you copy your Calendar URL, scroll to the section below for instructions on:
Important: All appointments entered in your SimplePractice calendar 30 days before the sync date and onward will be published to your Apple Calendar once you authorize the connection. Any SimplePractice events that are more than 30 days old will be removed from your Apple Calendar each time it’s synced.
Syncing your calendar on an Apple computer
If you’re using an Apple computer, you can sync your calendar using the Calendar app for macOS. To do this:
- Open the Calendar app
- From the top menu, select File > New Calendar Subscription
- Paste your Calendar URL from SimplePractice into the Calendar URL field
- Click Subscribe
- From the Location dropdown, choose:
- iCloud, if you’d like the calendar subscription to sync to your other Apple devices
- On My Mac, if you’d prefer the SimplePractice calendar to remain only on your Mac computer
- Select Every 5 minutes from the Auto-refresh dropdown menu
- Click OK

Syncing your calendar on iPhone or iPad
To sync your calendar on an iPhone or iPad:

Copy the Calendar URL generated in your SimplePractice account
- We recommend copying the Calendar URL from SimplePractice and texting or emailing it to yourself on your mobile device
- Go to your device’s Settings
- Tap Apps > Calendar
- Tap Calendar Accounts > Add Account > Other > Add Subscribed Calendar
- Paste your Calendar URL from SimplePractice into the Server field
- Tap Next
- Make sure that Use SSL is on to protect sensitive information
- Username and password fields are optional
- Tap Save

Removing your Apple Calendar sync
You can disconnect your Apple Calendar sync at any time. To remove your sync on an Apple computer:
- Open the Calendar app
- From the top menu, choose View > Show Calendar List
- Right click the SimplePractice calendar
- Select Unsubscribe
To remove your sync on an iPhone or iPad:
- Open the Calendar app
- Tap Calendars at the bottom of the screen
- Tap the Info button next to the SimplePractice calendar
- Tap Unsubscribe > Unsubscribe
Troubleshooting Apple Calendar sync
If your SimplePractice appointments and events are slow to sync to Apple Calendar, or they stop updating altogether, you can refresh your Apple Calendar. To do from an Apple computer, open the Calendar app and select View > Refresh Calendars.
You can also set up auto-refresh in the Calendar app. To do this:
- Right click the SimplePractice calendar
- Select Get Info
- Choose your preferred frequency from the Auto-refresh dropdown menu
- Click OK
To troubleshoot your sync on an iPhone or iPad, you can adjust your Push and Fetch settings to make sure that your Apple Calendar is updated frequently. To do this:
- Go to your device’s Settings
- Tap Apps > Calendar > Calendar Accounts
- Tap Fetch New Data
- Verify that Push is toggled on
- Choose the Fetch frequency
- We recommend Every 15 Minutes
Tip: If your Apple Calendar doesn’t update after adjusting your settings, try disconnecting and reconnecting the basic sync.
