Calendar color coding can help you quickly interpret appointment blocks at a glance. By default, appointment colors on the calendar will indicate whether an appointment is in the future, the past, canceled, a no show, late canceled, or a calendar event.
If you’re on the Plus plan, you can access additional color coding filters to indicate the clinician or service code for appointments. You'll also be able to customize which colors represent each service code or clinician.
Note: On all plans, you can edit color coding for events. To learn more, see Creating a calendar event.
In this guide, we'll cover:
Applying color coding filters to the calendar
To apply a different color coding filter to your calendar:
- Navigate to the Calendar
- Open the Color dropdown menu
- Select one of the color coding filters:
- Status of appointment
- Service code
- Clinician
Note: Only one color coding filter can be active at a time.
Customizing color coding for appointments
The Account Owner or practice manager can customize which colors represent certain service codes and clinicians in your group practice.
Note: Color coding can't be customized for appointment statuses.
To do this, the Account Owner or practice manager can:

- Click Save
Other team members can view what each color represents by accessing the Color Key. To do this:

- Click Color > View Color Key
- Select a tab to view the colors assigned to each service code or clinician
- To exit, click X or Cancel
Note: The color of the small vertical lines on the left of each appointment indicate its location. For information on customizing the color for each location, see Setting up office locations.
