Analytics provide data and organize information to help you run your business. Included in your Analytics is a Dashboard and several Reports that cover topics such as Income, Appointment reminders, Unpaid insurance appointments, and Income allocation.
Note: The dashboard and reports included in your account are consistently changing to reflect your practice records, and can be viewed and downloaded at any time.

Accessing your Dashboard
Note: The Dashboard is only available on the Essential and Plus plans and is visible depending on your role in SimplePractice.
Below, we’ll review each section of the Dashboard. To access the Dashboard, navigate to Analytics > Dashboard.
Once on the Dashboard, you can customize the time period to view snapshots of the sections below.
Income snapshot
Income is the dollar amount of revenue that’s been made for a given time period you select, and includes both client and insurance payments. Hover your cursor over the tiles to see client and insurance payments.
Clicking View report will take you to the Income report.
You can also find the projected revenue for the next month on the right side of the dashboard.
Note: Only Clinicians with Administrator Access, Clinicians with Full Client List Access, Clinicians with Basic Access + Billing (for their own clients), and Practice Managers with financial dashboard and report access can view this section.
The Income tracker on the top navigation bar displays your income for the current month. If you don't want to display the dollar amounts, you can hide them at any time.
To do this:
- Click the Income tracker in the navigation bar to open the flyout
- Toggle Amounts to off
Note: The amounts listed are estimates based off of insurance averages and the information entered into your account. This is only visible to Account Owners, Clinicians with Administrator Access, and Practice Managers who have been granted access to financial reports.
Outstanding balances snapshot
Outstanding balances shows the total outstanding client and insurance balances for all time, regardless of the date range you select. Hover your cursor over the tiles to see the income owed.
In this dashboard, you can see the percentage of client payments that are unpaid versus uninvoiced, as well as the percentage of insurance payments that are unpaid versus unbilled. Click View report to navigate to the Outstanding balances report.

Claims filed snapshot
Claims filed displays how many claims in the selected date range were classified as Paid, Rejected, Denied, Deductible, Accepted, or Other. Hover your cursor over the tiles to see the number of claims filed.
Click View report to see the Filed claims report.
Note: Only Clinicians with Administrator Access, Clinicians with Full Client List Access, Clinicians with Basic Access + Billing (for their own clients), Billers, and Practice Managers with financial dashboard and report access can view this section.
Appointments snapshot
The Appointments snapshot shows the number of appointments in the selected date range that are classified as Show, Canceled, No show, or Late canceled. Hover your cursor over the tiles to see the number of appointments for each status.
Clicking View report will take you to the Attendance report.
Note: Only Clinicians with Administrator Access, Clinicians with Full Client List Access, Clinicians with Basic Access + Billing (for their own clients), Billers, and Practice Managers with financial dashboard and report access can view this section.
Notes snapshot
The Notes snapshot shows how many appointments have notes with the following statuses: No note, Locked, Supervision, or Unlocked. Hover your cursor over each tile to see the number of notes with each status.
Note: If you have group appointments enabled, only the group note’s status will be accounted for in this snapshot.
Click View report to view the Appointment status report with the Documentation filter enabled.
Note: Only clinicians with entire practice access, full client list access, and basic access (for their own clients) can view this section. Practice billers and practice managers with financial dashboard and report access can also view this section.
