Adding a contact to an existing minor client
If you want to add a parent or guardian to an existing minor client, first confirm that the parent’s email address is not already listed on the minor’s Client Info tab.
To add a contact, see Adding contacts to existing clients.
If the minor already has the parent’s email address listed and you attempt to add the parent as a contact, you’ll see a message indicating that a guardian’s email should not be used for the client.
If this happens, remove Client Portal access for that email address:
- Navigate to the client’s Overview page
- Click Edit > Client Portal
- Click the minus icon next to the parent’s email address
The email address will then be available for use on the parent’s contact profile. For more information, see Adding team members or clients using the same email address.
You can also add an existing client or contact to multiple minor profiles, such as when a parent needs access to more than one child’s Client Portal.
To do this:
- Navigate to the minor client’s Overview page
- Click Edit > Contacts
- Select Add contact
- Search for the existing client or contact
- Click the name of the individual
- Select the Relationship type
- Click Save
